How much bandwith do you need to run GW and teamspeak server at the same time.
Hey I just wanted to know if it was possible for me to run a teamspeak server and play gw at the same time on my computer, my bandwith is
1024 kb download
300 kb upload
Now would it be possible for me to play GW and run a teamspeak server to chat with one friend, how about 2?
And how much does it cost to hire a good server?

I can't quote specifics, but most of the bandwidth GW uses is downloading, so in all honestly as long as your ISP has good throughput, you should be able to host a two, three or possibily four person teamspeak server without to much trouble.
Best thing to do? Give it a try and find out.

I'm currently running GW and a TS server off of my box. I have no problems and the server is up 24/7.
My specs are as follows:
P4 3.0
1.5g 3200 dual mem
I have a 6MB download speed (haven't gotten the number since my ISP upgraded for upload).
Computer works perfect with any number of people online.
I would suggest buying an older computer (for $200 or something) and use it as a server. 512 RAM, 1.8hrz, 40 gig hard drive should work fine if you want to run a game server (for FPS games) and a TS off of it. (Which I'll be buying soon.)

Duh, I forgot to mention what LB did below this post. LoL. Thanks, knew I forgot something. =)

Quicky: you don't have to buy the TS server; the only TS thing you have to buy is a remote server, which you're not doing. You just download the server and client programs at www.goteamspeak.com.

Teamspeak has to be the best program in the world, the resources it uses are impossibly low (e.g. compare teamspeak.exe memory size in your process's to skype.exe)
A friend has it running on his machine 24/7 with upto 50 people on it with no lag what so ever.. and still running CoH (which uses more bandwidth I assure you)
Thats why Guildwars can confidently give free 3 months teamspeak with their collectors pack, knowing that bandwidth will be the least of anyones problems.
The only case I can see it would be an issue is if your running GW on a min spec computer, along with hosting a teamspeak server (which most people dont do) even then, it wont be a bandwidth issue, it would be processing power.
hope this helps

I run a TS server with my friends whenever we play GW, or too lazy to type after a long day at work.
Anyways, I haven't really experienced any lag of any sort because of both programs running at the same time. Even though, I have 2 brothers using 2 different computers on the same network (one playing D2/CS, the other plays GW/CS).
So I think anyone with an average+ computer with an average+ ISP will run both fine.
PS- I have ADSL or whatever, I'm not sure what's the bandwidth stats on it though.

I agree with you about the resource foot print, thou in no way will it kill your game if you have +1gig of ram. Even at 512 no noticable improvement when skype is used over teamspeak. I have used both programs and there is about 1 second lag on the teamspeak server where as skype there is lag, but isn't noticable. anyone that wants to debate this issue try setting up a TS server on a LAN and talk to your buddie in the same room, you will notice the lag... then try skype
